The Grouse Grind trail on Vancouver's North Shore has been closed because of falling rock in the upper sections that has made that part of the popular hiking route dangerous, according to Metro Vancouver officials.

Crews hope to have repairs completed by Friday in order to reopen the trail on the weekend, but the exact opening time is not yet known.

Hikers and runners hoping to use the route are advised to check the Metro Vancouver website for updates before heading out this weekend.
