A man was arrested near Victoria, B.C., after police found him unconscious in the driver's seat of a car with a naked woman unconscious in the passenger seat.
Police were called on Wednesday after a motorist saw a vehicle on Gorge Road and suspected the driver might be impaired. By the time police arrived the car was stopped, the engine was running, and a man and woman inside were both unconscious.
Officers roused the 31-year-old Sooke man and arrested him for impaired driving, while an ambulance took the woman to hospital for a suspected GHB overdose. The 21-year-old from Victoria was wearing nothing but a single sock.
Saanich police Sgt. John Price said officers found marijuana, heroin, crystal meth and GHB inside the car.
The man is scheduled to appear in court July 30.
GHB, which is also known as the date rape drug because it can be slipped into drinks to render people unconscious, is a popular party drug in Victoria, and police are working to educate the public about its dangers, said Price.
"There is no such thing as pure GHB. There's all sorts of additives to it. You never know what you're getting or ingesting.… it's a huge buyer beware — say no to drugs," said Price.
