RCMP investigators have released the name of a woman whose body was discovered last week at a popular camping location on a remote lake road outside the community of Agassiz.

The deceased is Angela Crossman, 39, who had been living in the Abbotsford area for about a year, according to an RCMP new release issued Monday.

Investigators with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team have not uncovered any link to drugs, gangs or organized crime or any other regional homicide, the Mounties said, adding she was not known to police.

"Angela had lived in the region for a couple of years and then left," Cpl. Dale Carr said. "She came back to the area about a year ago and was living in Abbotsford. She is originally from the Moncton, N.B., area."

According to the news release, investigators have found that Crossman had visited Abbotsford Regional Hospital for a personal medical issue at approximately 5 p.m. PT on June 10 and left the hospital about three hours later.

Police believe she may have returned to a residence located in the 32200 block of Hillcrest Street in Abbotsford after she left the hospital. Police are hoping that members of the community can assist with confirming this detail.

Police have contacted local taxi and bus companies in an effort to determine whether she used them to get home from hospital.

"We are hoping someone will recall seeing Angela at the hospital and give us a call," Carr said.

Crossman was Caucasian, five-feet-six, medium build with brown eyes, brown shoulder-length hair, and a blue rose tattoo on the right upper arm. Her right nostril was pierced.

Investigators are attempting to identify the clothing Crossman wore to the hospital, which they believe was different from the clothing she was found in: red T-shirt under a grey zippered hooded jacket; light blue “hospital type” scrubs (pants only, not from Abbotsford Regional Hospital) over a pair of blue-, green- and white-striped pyjama pants; blue-and-white Converse sneakers.

She had a silver ring on her right middle finger and her left ring finger.

The Mounties are asking anyone with information about Crossman or her movements, or who recalls seeing her in the area of 32200 Hillcrest on June 10 after 8 p.m. to call the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team at 1-877-551-IHIT. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
