Autopsy results are expected Monday after two Vancouver police officers shot and killed a man holding a knife Friday.

Police have also confirmed the two female officers who confronted the man were not carrying Tasers.

Police received a 911 call at about 10:30 a.m. Friday saying two men had broken into a vehicle in the 700 block of Granville Street.

The suspects fled, but officers soon confronted one of the two suspects seen leaving the area.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was carrying a utility knife, and police said he advanced on the officers even though they had their guns pointed at him.

Police said the Abbotsford Police Department would be called in to investigate, and the provincial Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner would provide civilian oversight.

Police said they won't release the man's name until his family has been notified.
