An autopsy will be needed in the case of a woman found dead on Sunday inside a Burnaby, B.C., home, police said Monday.

The RCMP has identified her as Kimberly Lynn Hallgrath, 33, said Cpl. Dale Carr of the force's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Investigators removed her body Monday morning after obtaining a search warrant for the residence, which is at 6776 Colborne Ave. Police have said the death is suspicious.

A 911 call placed at around 7 p.m. Sunday reported a "suspicious occurrence" in the home, police said. Hallgrath was already dead by the time constables and the B.C. Ambulance Service arrived.

"Investigators are not able to clearly offer an opinion on the manner of death," Carr said in a news release on Monday. "An autopsy is expected in the coming days."

Police have said the case did not appear to be a shooting.

"At this point of the investigation, there is nothing to suggest that this is linked to gangs, drugs or organized crime. However, as the investigation progresses, that will become clearer," Carr said

Investigators continued to canvass the area on Monday and talk to neighbours, he said.
