The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has added another 17 peanut products to its recall list amid the growing outbreak of salmonella contamination linked to peanuts processed in the United States.

On Tuesday, it recalled the U.S.-made snack bars with brand names including Cinch, Detour and Supreme Protein. Ocean Spray cranberry fruit and nut trail mix is also included in the latest recall.

At least 529 people have fallen ill in the U.S. as a result of the outbreak, and at least eight may have died.

The CFIA says no illnesses linked to the newly recalled products have been reported in Canada. There is one previously reported illness in this country — a man became sick after eating a recalled product during a visit to the U.S.

The outbreak is being linked to peanuts processed at a Georgia-based Peanut Corp. of America plant. The nuts have been widely used as an ingredient in various processed food manufactured in both the U.S. and Canada.

More than 430 products have been recalled in the U.S., while the CFIA has recalled more than 120.
