The common-law husband of an Abbotsford, B.C., woman, who was found dead in her apartment last March, has been charged in her death a second time.

Daniel Raymond Casgrain, 54, was originally charged with second-degree murder after Hendrikje Priester, 52, was found dead in her apartment on March 25, but that charge was dropped in April.

At the time Crown counsel said they were waiting for the final pathology report.

Then on Friday police issued a statement that Casgrain had been rearrested and charged once again, this time with manslaughter, and that there was a "substantial likelihood of conviction."

Casgrain made his first appearance in court earlier this week when he was released on bail and scheduled to be back in court Dec. 15, according to the RCMP.

Previously, police called the death a domestic homicide and said a man was arrested at the scene. The cause of death has not been revealed.

After Priester's death her family was outraged because police failed to respond to a 911 call made from the apartment 12 hours before her body was discovered.

The 911 dispatcher involved was eventually disciplined and re-assigned.
