A patrol constable with the Vancouver Police Department has been charged with impaired driving.

Const. Peter Hodson, who was off-duty when he was arrested earlier this month, will appear in court on Dec. 29, VPD spokesman Const. Tim Fanning said Monday.

Hodson, 30, has been charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level above .08.

Following his Nov. 16 arrest, he was given an administrative driving prohibition and released on a promise to appear in court.

He has about three years of experience on the force has been reassigned to other duties while the case proceeds in court, Fanning said.

Hodson is one of several B.C. police officers who were allegedly involved in drinking and driving while off-duty.

Const. Tomi Hamner of the New Westminster Police Service will appear in court on Dec. 17 to face a charge of impaired driving following a single-vehicle accident on Oct. 18 in North Vancouver.

Hamner, 47, was driving an unmarked police vehicle when it struck a sign on Highway 1 near Westview Drive. She suffered minor injuries.

She was the school liaison at New Westminster Secondary School but has been reassigned. Her new position is not known.

RCMP Cpl. Benjamin Montgomery Robinson has been suspended with pay following a fatal crash on Oct. 25 in Tsawwassen, a community in Delta, B.C.

A 21-year-old was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with the Jeep Robinson was driving, Delta police allege. The driver of the Jeep left the scene, but shortly after the crash, police arrested Robinson, who was then taken to the Delta police station where he was given a breathalyzer test.

Delta police have recommended Robinson be charged with impaired driving causing death. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 15.

Following media inquiries, the RCMP also revealed last month that Cpl. Darren Baker was ordered to stand trial on Jan. 27 after he was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level above .08.

Baker was stopped last December in West Vancouver by members of the West Vancouver police, who said the vehicle was being driven erratically.
