A 32-year-old Surrey man died Saturday night after being stabbed in a residence in the 11000 block of 136th Street. (CBC) A 23-year-old woman has been charged with one count of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a man in Surrey, B.C., on Saturday.
Tammy Jill Myran, a Vancouver resident, appeared in Surrey provincial court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody, Cpl. Dale Carr, a spokesman for the RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigative Team, said.
Myran's next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
Police have not released the identity of the 32-year-old victim, whose family is believed to be living in Afghanistan, Carr said. Police are working with Canadian authorities to try to get in touch with the man's next of kin.
RCMP officers were called to a residence in the 11000 block of 136th Street at around 8 p.m. Saturday and found the victim's body.
A woman was arrested at the scene in connection with the death.
Police are still trying to determine the relationship between the woman and the unidentified man and what triggered the stabbing.
People who may have information about the homicide are asked to contact the RCMP.
