Family and friends say it's out of character for Daniel Bouchard, 20, to disappear with telling anyone. (Courtesy of Daniel Bouchard's family) A father in White Rock is asking the public for help in finding his 20-year-old son, who went missing Monday night after returning to his basement suite from a local pub.
Dan Bouchard said his son, Daniel, went home alone but disappeared without a trace shortly afterwards. Bouchard said the jacket Daniel wore to the pub that night was found in the suite.
Dan Bouchard told CBC News Thursday he was told by Daniel's friends that everything "was fine. He had quite a bit to drink but he was happy — no arguments, no fights."
"As far as we know there was no reason for him to disappear," the father said.
White Rock RCMP said Daniel Bouchard left a pub in the area of Thrift Avenue and Johnson Road about 8 p.m. Monday night.
Tyler Beith, Bouchard's roommate in his basement suite, said it's "completely out of the question" for Bouchard not to tell anyone where he went.
Dan Bouchard hopes the public will help police find his missing son, Daniel. (CBC) "It's weird. It's not like him. It doesn't make any sense," Beith said.
Const. Brett Kierstead said police are taking Bouchard's disappearance seriously in light of disappearances of several young men in the Lower Mainland in the past six months.
"Bouchard's disappearance is very unusual. Bouchard has not contacted his family, friends or employer since he went missing," Kierstead said on Thursday.
On April 10, Michael Scullion, 30, of Chilliwack disappeared in Agassiz. On March 19, Kellen McElwee, 25, of Burnaby was last seen in Langley. On Jan. 1, Derek Kelly, 32, of Langley vanished near Bridge Lake.
RCMP are not linking these missing cases with Bouchard's disappearance but are asking for the public's help.
"We're looking for assistance from the public and other people who may know him to help in locating him," Const. Richard Phillips said.
Daniel Bouchard is 5 feet, 11 inches, 168 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes.
