A rail line in British Columbia's Interior has reopened after a train derailment.

A Canadian National Railway Co. train travelling on a stretch of the Canadian Pacific Railway line was knocked off the track by a minor rockslide on Saturday night near Lytton, about 100 kilometres southwest of Kamloops.

Four empty cars and two tank cars carrying caustic soda were derailed.

CN spokeswoman Kelli Svendsen called the incident "relatively minor," saying there were no injuries or environmental concerns.

The cars and tanks are still in the area, but Svendsen says they are secured.

This is not the first derailment to occur near Lytton: In August 2006, the CN main line through the Fraser Canyon was closed following the overnight derailment of a 124-car Canadian Pacific coal train on a bridge near Lytton.

At the time, the federal Transportation Safety Board attributed the incident to defective rails.
