Vancouver's latest homicide victim was president of an online gambling firm in Richmond, B.C., CBC News has learned.

James Po Ho Cheung was shot to death in his Cadillac while it was parked at the back of his 3363 Napier St. house on the city's east side around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

No arrests have been made in the shooting of Cheung, which did not appear to be random, police said on Monday.

The married man, whose wife is a realtor, was charged in July 2001 with three counts of laundering property and one count of conspiracy, court documents show. But he was never convicted.

Cheung's company, 777 Sports Entertainment Corp., is located in the Richmond industrial park.

A company official, who declined to be named, told CBC News on Tuesday that he's trying to keep the company running and will be notifying investors of Cheung's death.

"I didn't know really anything about them. I always wondered kind of what they did …," said Folland O'Connor, who works in an office next door to Cheung's company.

According to the B.C. Lottery Corporation, revenues from internet gambling worldwide right now are currently about $12 billion. That number is expected to grow to $28 billion in the next four years.
