David Beckham will play an exhibition match with the rest of his Los Angeles Galaxy teammates in Vancouver on Nov. 7, allowing B.C. soccer fans to finally see the British star live.

The soccer friendly will pit the Galaxy against the Vancouver Whitecaps at B.C. Place Stadium.

The match was originally scheduled for Oct. 3, but was rescheduled after Beckham sprained his right knee during the SuperLiga final against Pachuca of Mexico on Aug. 29.

More than 40,000 tickets have already been sold.

While Los Angeles didn't make the Major League Soccer post-season, the team finished the season strong, going 5-1-2 in its last eight games.

"We are ecstatic to be able to confirm a date and move ahead with hosting a spectacular event," Bob Lenarduzzi, the Vancouver Whitecaps  president, said in a release.

The 32-year-old veteran started in four games for the Galaxy this season while playing 308 minutes, scoring one goal and two assists.

Beckham, who rose to stardom with Manchester United and Real Madrid, and even captained England, shocked the soccer community when he signed a record-breaking, five-year contract with the Galaxy on Jan. 11.

He is earning a salary of $32.5 million US, but, combining profit sharing and endorsements, will pocket $250 million US over the life of the deal — the richest in soccer history.
