Police are investigating the deaths of two men killed in separate shootings in B.C. on the weekend.

Vancouver police said a man shot to death in Kitsilano Sunday night was known to them.

"Police units responded to reports of several shots fired, and upon arrival to the area [they] found a male face-down in the boulevard, having been at least shot once in the head," said Insp. Bob Chapman.

"Emergency medical units responded to the scene, and unfortunately the person passed away."

Chapman says a suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area.

In a second incident, a man, 38,  was shot and killed on a street in Mission,  just east of Vancouver in the Fraser River valley, on Sunday afternoon.

Police said a dark SUV was seen speeding away from the crime scene at about 3:30 p.m., but no arrests have been made.

The shooting is being handled by the RCMP's integrated homicide investigation team.
