A 32-year-old Vancouver man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of another man in what police say was a drug dispute in the Downtown Eastside.
The 45-year-old victim, who has not been identified, was killed early Sunday near Main and Hastings.
It's alleged that James Larry Moyah stabbed the victim in retribution for an earlier attack, said Vancouver police spokesman Const. Howard Chow.
"There was a stabbing about an hour prior to the homicide, and the victim in that stabbing is an associate of James Larry Moyah."
It was the first homicide in the city in 2007.
There had also been one homicide in Vancouver by this time last year. However, in 2005, there had been four.
