Police went to the home in the 3800-block of Francis Street just before 2 a.m. Monday, where they found Lathan's body.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Pierre Lemaitre said they are now looking for one of Lathan's tenants, 20-year-old Jonathan Keegan Bird.

"The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed that Bird lived at that residence. Mr. Lathan owned the house. He resided there also, and there are also other tenants in the house who were key witnesses," Lemaitre said.

Police are seeking the public's help in finding Bird, who is described as a young First Nations man, about six feet one inch tall, 190 pounds with a brush cut.

Lemaitre describes Bird as armed and dangerous, and warns anyone who sees him not to approach, but to call police instead.
