A jet bound for the Philippines made an emergency landing at Vancouver International Airport shortly after leaving early Wednesday morning.

The Philippines airliner had more than 280 passengers aboard when it left Vancouver.

When the pilot detected a problem with one of the jet's wing flaps, he turned back and dumped a load of fuel over the ocean.

Fire and ambulance crews assembled on the tarmac as a precaution. The aircraft landed without incident.

It's not clear when the flight will resume.
