The RCMP had to bring in a helicopter to disperse about 200 teens at a recent wild house party in the affluent South Surrey area.

Cpl. Roger Morrow said the officers who originally showed up at the party last weekend were "pelted with beer bottles" and had to call for reinforcements from all over the city.

"We had to call in police service dogs and Air One with its high-intensity light to try and disperse these teens," the Surrey RCMP spokesman said.

Morrow said police ended up chasing the teens all over the affluent neighbourhood, which was a waste of police resources.

"As it turned out, we spent a number of hours trying to disperse the teens as they ran from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, park to park."

He also noted that the parents were home at the time, and that neighbours called police when the party got out of hand.

Morrow said it was the third such massive house party in South Surrey since the start of the school year, and the behaviour of teens has become more brazen.
