Vancouver police are recommending a charge of aggravated assault against a 45-year-old man in connection with the stabbing of a homeless man on Monday night.
The suspect was arrested after the 47-year-old victim was attacked at a bus stop in the 1000 block of Robson Street, one of the city's busiest shopping areas.
Police say the victim was slashed in the neck by a man armed with an edged weapon.
A doctor was nearby and was able to help the injured man, who was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He is now listed in stable condition.
It was the fourth stabbing of a homeless man in downtown Vancouver in the past 10 days.
The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Chang Kyun Kim of no fixed address, was arrested by an officer near the corner of Seymour and Cordova streets a few minutes later.
Investigators are now trying to figure out if there is any connection between Monday night's attack and the three similar attacks since Sept. 2.
But they say it's still too early to say if Kim can be linked to the other attacks.
The victims of the earlier attacks were all seriously hurt but are expected to recover. Their names have not been released.
