Vancouver police have made an arrest in connection with the deaths of two men who were run down by a speeding Porsche Cayenne SUV outside a Gastown nightclub last November.
Three men were crossing the street in the 1000 block of West Hastings Street early in the morning on Remembrance Day when they were hit by a Porsche Cayenne.
John Paul Larkin and Stanley Wong were thrown half a block by the impact. Wong, 35, died on the scene while Larkin, 31, died 10 days later in hospital.
The third man suffered only minor injuries.
Police later found the SUV abandoned at Bute and Cordova, just a few blocks from the scene of the accident.
They said the vehicle had dodged a drunk driving roadblock on Pacific Boulevard just minutes before the men were run down.
They also said the vehicle had not been reported stolen. Investigators interviewed the registered owner, but no charges were ever laid.
Police say they arrested the suspect — a man in his 30s — in downtown Vancouver on Thursday. They say he is known to police.
