Two men were rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed at a downtown Vancouver nightclub early Saturday morning.

Vancouver police Sgt. Randy Fincham said police were called at around 3 a.m. PT to Au Bar Nightclub, which is in the 600 block of Seymour Street. Officers found two injured men, one 20 years old and the other 23 years old, outside the club.

Fincham said the men had "serious stab wounds" and paramedics took them to hospital. One man remains in hospital, and the other was released from hospital later in the day.

"Police believe the stabbing stemmed from an altercation inside the club and both men were targeted," Fincham said in a written statement.

No arrests were made and no suspect information was available as of Saturday afternoon, he said.

Investigators from the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section and the Forensic Identification Unit are working on the case.
