2 missing after snowmobilers break through river near Prince George
Police say the snowmobilers were travelling as part of a larger group
Two people are missing near Prince George, B.C., after three snowmobilers broke through the ice on the Salmon River on Monday afternoon, say RCMP.
Cpl. Craig Douglass said one of the snowmobilers managed to climb out when the ice broke, but police and search and rescue teams are still searching for the other two.
RCMP say a helicopter was deployed but the search could only continue on the ground after sunset.
Douglass say the search will continue until midnight on Monday and will resume Tuesday morning if the missing snowmobilers not found.
He said the three snowmobilers were travelling as part of a group.
More information is expected to be released on Tuesday morning.
