Shooting in Surrey leaves 1 dead

Homicide investigators are at the scene of a fatal shooting in Surry on Friday morning.

Eyewitnesses say report 3 or 4 shots fired around 5 a.m. PT

Members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team are at the scene of a fatal shooting in Surrey, B.C., on Friday morning.

Witness reported hearing three or four shots around 5 a.m. PT and then seeing an unidentified body slumped in a car in the driveway of a house on 156 Street near 86 Avenue.

RCMP blocked off the neighbourhood and members of IHIT were called in to conduct an investigation.

On Friday afternoon investigators issued a brief statement confirming one man had died in the shooting.

"The victim has been identified and he does not possess a criminal record. His identity will not be released until further family have been notified," said the statement by Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

"At this stage we are attempting to determine a motive and are asking any witnesses to come forward. If you have information about this homicide call the IHIT Tipline at 1-877-557-4448, or, Crimestoppers."
