Shooting in Richmond, B.C., sends man to hospital
Witnesses inside nearby business ran out to help man shot in 11200 block of Bridgeport Road
A man who was shot outside a business in Richmond, B.C., Wednesday evening was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Richmond RCMP Cpl. Stephanie Ashton said police were called to the 11200 block of Bridgeport Road just after 6:30 p.m. PT after reports of gunshots were called in.
Witnesses inside a nearby business rushed outside to help the man who had been shot, she said.
Police closed Bridgeport Road between Shell and Simpson roads to begin the investigation, and are in the process of collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
"We're hoping that if people who were driving through the area at the time saw something, that they contact police," Ashton said.
Police also hope the wounded man will be able to tell his story soon.
"We do have officers at the hospital hoping to speak with him once he's been treated," Ashton said.
