RCMP in the Northern Vancouver Island community of Sayward are looking for the owner of a bag of presents and they're anxious to crack the case by Christmas.

RCMP on Northern Vancouver Island are trying to reunite a bag of presents with its owner

A holiday mystery is gripping the northern Vancouver Island community of Sayward, B.C.

Mounties in the community, which is just under 75 km north of Campbell River, B.C., are trying to reunite a large bag of presents with its rightful owner — and they have just seven days to crack the case.

Const. Steven Thackaray said a road maintenance crew working along Highway 19 found the bag on Sunday, stuffed with items obviously intended as gifts for children.

No one has come forward to claim the bag and Thackeray says police are doing everything possible to get the items under the right Christmas tree.
