A man in his 20s was taken to hospital after a stabbing in East Vancouver Thursday night, according to police.

It happened sometime around 11 p.m. at the Safeway store on Broadway near Commercial Drive.

Police said the victim was found outside the Safeway in a picnic table area, but it is unclear where the attack took place.

Forensics investigators could be seen carrying equipment into the store, and a section of pathway next to the Safeway was also closed off behind police tape Thursday night.

The victim and his friends haven't been at all cooperative with the investigation, according to police.

The victim's wounds are believed to be serious, but non-life-threatening.

Police said nobody had been arrested late Thursday.
