RCMP officer charged with stealing cocaine in B.C.
An RCMP officer in B.C. with more than 18 years in the force has been charged with theft for allegedly taking cocaine from a drug exhibit, a senior officer says.
Staff Sgt. Stuart Seib is now suspended, Chief Supt. Mike Sekela announced at a brief news conference in Chilliwack Wednesday.
"While the alleged actions of this member are extremely troubling, they are clearly not representative of the high moral and ethical standards of the vast majority of the members of the RCMP," said Sekela.
Sekela said Seib, who allegedly stole drugs from the same exhibit on more than one occasion, might also face other charges.
Seib has been with the RCMP more than 18 years and was transferred to the Merritt detachment in November 2011.
