RCMP officer charged in fatal crash

An RCMP officer has been charged in connection to a late-night fatal collision in Agassiz, B.C., last July.

An RCMP officer has been charged in a fatal traffic incident in the Fraser Valley.

Const. Jordan Braid faces charges of dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm in connection to a July 2011 collision on Highway 7 in Agassiz.

Braid was on duty driving a marked police car late at night and was en route to a reported domestic dispute when he collided with another vehicle, killing the driver and injuring a passenger.

It was alleged the cruiser's siren and emergency lights were not on prior to to crash.

The Abbotsford Police Department investigated the incident and recommended the charges to the Crown.

He is scheduled for a court appearance June 26.

Braid is also facing an internal RCMP disciplinary hearing in relation to the incident, the force said in a release Friday.

The release said the officer remains on administrative duties.
