Sheryl MacKay For the past 15 years hundreds of thousands of B.C. early birds have been tuning into North by North West to start their weekend mornings with host Sheryl MacKay and her guests. Her warm personality brings out the best stories about people and their passion for life and the culture and natural history of BC.
Sheryl started with CBC Radio in the early eighties, working on current affairs radio programs in Vancouver. She headed east to the CBC in Prince Edward Island where she worked as a producer, radio host, reporter and co-anchor of the local TV supper hour show.
In addition to her work with CBC, Sheryl is an active volunteer. She has served on boards for arts and cultural organizations, participated with community fundraisers, helped with hospice programs, and currently serves as a volunteer clinical counsellor.
Sheryl has received accolades and awards including The Gray Campbell Award for Distinguished Service from the Association of Book Publishers of B.C., an award from the Craft Council of B.C. and an Award of Merit from the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation. She holds a BA from Simon Fraser University, a Journalism diploma, and a master of arts degree in counselling psychology.
