The B.C. NDP and a group representing some of the province's tattoo artists are calling on the government to regulate the age at which teens can get tattoos without parental consent.

But B.C. Health Minister Margaret MacDiarmid says that, while current guidelines will be toughened, there will be no legal requirement for parents to give permission beforehand.
