BC Hydro crews are still working to restore power to thousands of customers following Tuesday night's storm in Northern B.C.

It will now be Friday night before the power is back on in many parts of B.C's Peace region, after a major storm knocked out power to more than 20,000 customers in Northern B.C. overnight Tuesday.

B.C. Hydro was reporting about 7,500 customer in the Peace Region and other areas of Northern B.C. were still without power on Thursday morning.

Spokesman Bob Gammar says crews have been called in from all over the province to help out and power should be back on in Fort St. John by 7 p.m. Thursday.

But it will be Friday evening before electricity is restored to Dawson Creek, Chetwyn, Tumbler Ridge and Hudson's Hope.

Several communities in the northeast have set up warming stations where people can go to warm up and have something to eat and drink if they need it.
