Police in Vancouver are issuing a public alert after a man exposed himself to two young girls in Kitsilano.

The girls, who are 12 and 13, were walking along Maple Street near West 18th Avenue after school yesterday when the man approached them and exposed himself to them.

The girls ran away and immediately told their parents, who contacted police.

“The incident is obviously very disturbing,” says Vancouver Police Const. Brian Montague, who says no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.

“Children being targeted and potential escalation in criminal behaviour with any sexual offender is always a concern," he added.

Montague says the man is described as being clean shaven, with short brown hair and a pale brown or tanned complexion. He may be in his late 20s or early 30s, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall and has a medium build.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-2634 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
