Patient in critical condition after vehicle hits Canada Line station

One person is in critical condition in hospital after a collision near the Langara-49th Avenue Canada Line station sent a car right into the entranceway of the transportation hub.

The accident happened just before 5 p.m. PT Sunday when a Jeep SUV and Toyota sedan collided, according to the B.C. Ambulance Service.

The Toyota came to a stop at the entrance to the station on 49th Avenue and Cambie Street.

Paramedics transported a patient to hospital in critical condition, though they would not say if the person was from one of the cars or a passerby at the station.

TransLink says the accident did not cause any structural damage to the station and minimally impacted service on Sunday. (CBC)

TransLink says service at the station was not stopped, but only slowed down while emergency responders were dealing with the accident.

Regular service resume at 5:34 p.m. PT according to a spokesperson.
