The B.C. Coroners Service says that the passenger who died in a head-on crash north of Quesnel this week was 20-year-old Leanne Marie Burchill of Prince George.

Burchill died when the pickup truck she was in tried to pass a line of traffic, and hit another pickup truck head-on on Highway 97, about 10 km north of Quesnel, on Thursday.

The B.C. Coroners Service said Burchill was sitting in the front seat of the pickup truck, and that she died at the scene.

RCMP are still investigating the incident, but police had said that the crash happened when the driver of the pickup truck Burchill was in drove into the oncoming northbound traffic lane near the turnoff to Ten Mile Lake at around 9:25 a.m. PT.

Police said a tow truck had been working in the area, and traffic in the southbound direction had been backing up.
