West Vancouver police and North Shore Search and Rescue are working together to rescue a snowboarder who went out of bounds last night on Cypress Mountain.
Poor weather made it too dangerous to attempt a rescue overnight.
At noon Monday, officials said they were about a one-hour hike west to the snowboarder's last known tracks.
The man, whose name has not been released, has had some text message and voice contact with search and rescue.
Over the weekend, North Shore Search and Rescue leader Tim Jones issued a plea to outdoor enthusiasts not to venture into the backcountry due to increasingly dangerous conditions.
