Now that you've eaten your last sugar cookie of the holiday season, you may be thinking it's time to give that tired old tannenbaum the boot.

If you're wondering where you can dispose of your Christmas tree in Metro Vancouver, this interactive map of Christmas tree disposal locations is the place for you.

Most of the locations on the map include times when trees can be dropped off.

Drop off and pick up options

Most municipalities around Vancouver accept Christmas trees along with other yard waste, for a limited time. They may also have free drop-off at landfills and transfer stations throughout the region.

You'll need to remove all decorations and tinsel from your tree, no matter which option you choose.

Someone was a little late cleaning up after Christmas.

Many municipalities will pick up Christmas trees along with other yard waste for a limited time in January.

If you're looking for one last blast of Christmas cheer, you may want to consider dropping off your tree at one of many charity-run chipping stations that will be set up at a parking lot or community centre near you over the next couple of weekends.

These operate by donation — generally a minimum of $5. The proceeds go to a good cause and some of them also feature bottle drives to boost their income and help you make more space in your garage.

There are also some private recycling centres that accept Christmas trees. Fees usually apply.
