Masked male sought in Burnaby assaults

Police are investigating a series of assaults where women were grabbed by a masked man in the area of Lougheed Highway and Government Street in Burnaby.

Women are encouraged to travel in pairs, remain aware of their surroundings

Police are investigating a series of assaults where women were grabbed by a masked man in the area of Lougheed Highway and Government Street in Burnaby.

The assaults have been reported since Sept. 18, and all three occurred in the late evening hours between 10 p.m. PT and midnight, RCMP said.

In every incident, the women resisted or screamed, causing the suspect to flee immediately on foot.

Burnaby RCMP describe the suspect as:

  • 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall
  • slim build
  • unknown ethnicity
  • dark clothing; possibly wearing a hoody
  • wearing a black mask covering the face

Police are urging people to be cautious when walking in the area late at night.

Women are encouraged to travel in pairs and to always remain aware of their surroundings.
