Vancouver police believe an apartment fire that happened 20 years ago was set deliberately in order to cover up a murder.

The Vancouver Police Department says calls came in about an apartment fire at 8770 Granville Street, in Marpole, on March 4, 1993.

Inside the apartment, firefighters found the body of 28-year-old Jillian Blatchford Fuller.

Police quickly determined that Fuller was murdered, and the fire had been set to destroy evidence of the crime.

The force says that detectives worked diligently to solve her murder, but no arrests were ever made and the case has gone cold.

The VPD is asking anyone who might have information to contact the homicide unit, or call Crime Stoppers.
