A young Palestinian couple, torn apart by the ongoing conflict in Syria, have been reunited as refugees in Burnaby, B.C.

Marwa O'da and Wissan Nassar met and got engaged in Syria, but Nassar was brought to Canada as a refugee without her.

Undeterred, Nassar convinced the local couple who sponsored his application to do the same for her, and O'da arrived in Vancouver this week.

The couple got married almost immediately, and O'da now plans to study English and become a nurse.
