Kamloops has re-elected its Liberal MLA, keeping its reputation as a bellwether riding that votes with the government.

And Kamloops-North Thompson also re-elected its Liberal representative, helping Premier Gordon Campbell to earn his second consecutive majority government.

The two ridings have voted historically with the governing party. Kamloops has never voted for an opposition member, while Kamloops-North Thompson elected a non-government member once.

Claude Richmond, speaker of the legislative assembly, was re-elected in Kamloops with more than 48 per cent of the popular vote, while Kevin Krueger will again represent Kamloops-North Thompson, with almost 49 per cent of the popular vote.

The NDP candidates came in second in both ridings.
