Health care advocate and union leader Judy Darcy is going to take another stab at provincial politics.

Darcy confirms she will seek the NDP nomination in the New Westminster riding where veteran New Democrat Dawn Black has just announced her retirement.

Darcy has been secretary-business manager of the Hospital Employees Union since 2005, after holding the post of national CUPE president for 13 years.

She ran unsuccessfully for the provincial NDP nomination in the Vancouver-Fairview riding before the 2005 election, losing by just a handful of votes to Gregor Robertson, who is now the mayor of Vancouver.
