A B.C. man who shares the same name as a British actor has been getting a lot of attention on social media.
Years ago, a musician in Prince George named Jamie Bell took the Twitter handle @JamieBell.
The actor Jamie Bell, made famous with his starring role in the 2000 film Billy Elliot, signed up later and was forced to settle for @1JamieBell.
Prince George's Jamie says he frequently gets messages from fans who think he's the more-famous Jamie, who is also known as Tintin's voice in The Adventures of Tintin (2011), and one of the stars in the upcoming release The Fantastic Four.
"Every time he has a movie, or gets married, or has a kid or anything like that — I hear about," the Prince George man told CBC News.
And finally, last week, Bell received a message from the Billy Elliot star himself:
It was: "OK, how much do you want for it?"
B.C.'s Bell started thinking it over: Should he sell his Twitter name? And if so, for how much?
@1jamiebell Jokes aside, how important is having it to you? I def dig having my name but it prob doesn't mean as much to me as it would you!— Jamie Bell (@jamiebell) March 20, 2014
He ended up asking for advice on Facebook.
"Some people have said 'keep it,' some people have said 'don't take any less than ten grand,' which just seems absolutely absurd to me," Bell told CBC News. "But a lot of people have said 'take money,' which is crazy!"
Bell hasn't decided yet if he'll give up his Twitter handle... or keep his famous name.
"I have no idea what to do. If I should keep it, or give it to him, or whatever: I have no idea," he said.
"The weird thing is, it doesn't matter to me at all. It's obviously much more valuable for him to have it, especially with Fantastic Four coming out."
