Inmate stabbed to death in B.C. prison
A 28-year-old inmate serving a 10-year sentence for robbery was killed in a brawl at Kent Institution in Agassiz, B.C., on Thursday night.
Andrew Craig was stabbed to death, and two other inmates were seriously hurt in the incident, which occurred just before 8 p.m. PT in the gym of the maximum-security federal prison in the Fraser Valley east of Vancouver.
One of the two survivors was severely injured and airlifted to hospital, while the second was taken to hospital by ambulance and is listed in stable condition.
Homicide investigators spent the night at the locked-down prison. Officials with Corrections Canada said several suspects had already been identified.
The institution was also locked down on the weekend after a brawl in the gym, but officials said they believe the latest violence is unrelated to Saturday's fight.
