Husband sentenced for Surrey newspaper stabbing
A 28-year-old man, who pleaded guilty to stabbing his estranged wife to death at her workplace in Surrey, B.C. two years ago, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Manmeet Singh killed Ravinder Bhangu, 24, in the offices of the Sach Di Awaaz Indo-Canadian weekly newspaper, where she worked as an administrative assistant, on July 28, 2011.
The attack took place a few months after the couple had split up, friends said at the time.
Singh will serve life in prison for the second-degree murder and will not be eligible for parole for 16 years.
