A Mission search and rescue team has joined the hunt for a teenager from Port Coquitlam, who has been missing for more than a week.

Family and friends of Dominic De Lagiraudais spent the weekend putting up posters of the 16-year-old at bus depots and local businesses.

"Without this I’d be going crazy," said Marie De Lagiraudais, Dominic’s mother.

A search last week by Coquitlam RCMP and search and rescue volunteers was also unsuccessful.

De Lagiraudais says Dominic walked out of her house last Sunday after a fight.

She says her son has camped alone near Stave Lake in Mission before, but never for more than a few days.

"I can't help but worry that he's hurt somewhere and he's stuck out there in the woods," she said. "We've got to find him."

On Sunday, Coquitlam RCMP referred the case to Mission, said Ben Forester with Mission Search and Rescue, as his team prepared to deploy.

Dominic is described as a black male, six feet two inches tall, 180 pounds with short black hair and a light complexion.

He was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, an unknown top and carrying a black bag.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
