Const. Brian Montague said officers have taped off an area near Gladstone Park where the body of the 31-year-old ex-husband of homicide victim Thi Tam Nguyen was discovered Sunday afternoon.

Montague said a 13 year old who was walking along a trail near the area of Portside Drive and East Kent Avenue made the discovery of the man's body.

Police and paramedics were called, but the man could not be revived, Montague said.

Nguyen, 27, was found dead Saturday afternoon in the basement suite where she lived, in a home at the corner of E. 41st Avenue and Rupert Street.

Her four-year-old son was in the house at the time. He was found safe and taken into police custody.

Montague said Nguyen's ex-husband had been charged with domestic assault in 2011, and he was an immediate suspect.

Police launched a manhunt and found his car, abandoned, in Richmond later Saturday afternoon.

Nguyen became Vancouver's sixth homicide victim of 2014.
