Homicide investigators probe Burnaby woman's death

The death of a woman who was found injured in an apartment unit near Metrotown in Burnaby is considered "suspicious."

Police are investigating how a woman died Monday night in a home near Metrotown in Burnaby, B.C.

Sgt. Bari Emam, with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said paramedics and Burnaby RCMP were called to the 5100 block of Irving Street, just north of Kingway and west of Royal Oak Avenue, Monday night.

The injured woman they found in the home there later died.

Emam said the death is being considered "suspicious."

“At this early stage of the investigation, IHIT is working closely with members of the Burnaby RCMP to determine if this case is a homicide," he said in a written statement Tuesday morning.

"At the present time our investigators are reviewing the initial details surrounding the incident and are in the process of gathering more information."
