A military helicopter had to be called in early this morning to help rescue two women who fell from a balcony on Nelson Island on the Sunshine Coast.
The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria says there was limited access to where the women were, and the beach terrain was difficult, so paramedics on board a Coast Guard ship had to call in extra help.
The Cormorant chopper dropped a search and rescue crew into the difficult terrain just before 1 a.m.
The women were then placed on spine boards, hoisted into the helicopter and then taken to the hospital.
They are both in stable condition.
