A spike in H1N1 flu cases means more British Columbians are rushing to get vaccinated late into the flu season.

In B.C., one person has died in a suspected case of H1N1 and roughly 40 people have been hospitalized — about 30 of them in intensive care.

This year's strain is affecting more younger people, between the ages of 20 and 60.

The H1N1 flu strain was the cause of widespread panic in 2009.
