An Australian tourist, whose girlfriend died days after their vacation in Whistler, B.C. is looking for a camera lost on the mountain containing some of their last photos together.

Matt Lorraway, 31, was visiting Whistler with his 23-year-old girlfriend Rebecca Ware from February 3 to 17.

They stayed at the Pan Pacific Mountainside hotel in Whistler Village but Lorraway says he lost his Go Pro helmet camera on the mountain.

When the couple returned home to Australia on February 17, Ware was rushed to hospital, where she was diagnosed with leukemia. She died five days later.

Now, Lorraway’s friends have made an appeal on Facebook for the camera’s return. On Friday morning, their message had been shared more than 3,000 times.

The Go Pro helmet camera was lost at the top of the gondola between the mountain’s mid-station and Whistler Village. It has a touch screen and a Monster Energy sticker on it. On the SD card, there is footage of zip lining and snowmobiling.

Amy McArthur, Lorraway’s friend, told CBC News the camera isn’t nearly as important as the photos stored inside.
